You change your mind about this whole ordeal. You know your actions now are going to be regrettable but you can’t have someone else die today. Also, you have an overwhelming feeling because of that phone conversation that World War Three will start if she dies.
You bolt across the room and pick the president up and jump out an open window before anyone has a chance to react. Landing on the pavement, you sprain one ankle but continue running for a few blocks until a police officer comes across the two of you. Meanwhile she is blushing over seeing a guy who was supposedly a provider being brave enough to rescue her. The police officers order you to put her down immediately. You comply.
You are thanked by her and told that you might be marriage material if you want a better spouse, as she could always go for a second husband, however your actions earlier are sedition and you have to be punished.
You are arrested and sent off to jail. Your trial is probably the longest in the past decade, over a week because the powers to be couldn’t decide what your punishment would be. In the end, you are tried convicted and sentenced to the rest of your life in solitary confinement for sedition. The only plus for this was a female guard thought you were heroic and slept with you a few times before she transferred posts. Last thing you heard, she was pregnant with your child.
You die in prison five years later due to malnourishment, as people forgot you were even in a cell. Between your sentencing and your death, the government collapsed due to economic purposes and the country broke up into several smaller countries, some carrying on the same social justice policies, some becoming flat out “patriarchies” that they were originally scared of, and others attempting to piece together what was good in the past.
Your coworkers end up becoming celebrities in the new “patriarchy” countries, celebrated with people such as Hitler and Pinochet, where you are forgotten from history, just like your rotting corpse in the jail cell of an abandoned prison. If you were still alive, you would have probably preferred the future you just chose anyway.
:-(
You have died. Go back and choose another path.
